1. DISCIPLINE – Sticking with the 30 day program forced me into NEW HABITS…Discipline!!  We all have the POWER to Achieve Every GOAL we set for ourselves…but most of us lack the DISCIPLINE to do the Daily Baby Steps to get there.  Learning to look at a BIGGER GOAL and FORCING myself to learn a new habit, therefore DISCIPLINING myself was the missing link.  Successful People are Disciplined to Do What Most Others won’t….

2. ORGANIZATION: Ahhh I run the other way when I hear this word!!  Details?? Me?? Oh No!!   I see the Big Picture but the details make me want to jump on to the next task on my list.  I’ve always made a To Do List but it was on several pieces of paper…post it notes, notebooks and notebooks and notebooks, cell phone apps YOU NAME IT!!!  Why couldn’t I find ONE that worked?  After learning her simple system of breaking down the tasks on your To Do List to TODAY, THIS WEEK & SOMEDAY – I found an app that I fell in LOVE with GET IT DONE APP 

It follows the same folders, syncs to my phone and I am able to do my To Do List on my computer…which is WHAT Works For ME!!!  It’s not just creating a To Do List, most people do that….its Creating a To Do List with the TASKS that are going to move you towards your Push Goal!!

3. PUSH GOAL / THINKING BIG – One of her signature ideas in the book is teaching you how to set Goals but specifically a PUSH Goal.  Basically a Yearly BIG Goal then when accomplished will allow all of your other goals to fall into place as ACCOMPLISHED!!  She has you write out 10 Goals for the year and IDENTIFY which one will be your Push Goal.  NOW….I have done the 10 Goals before, specifically in 2006 when I first became a Presenter for PBP.  It worked for me then when I had no idea what I was doing, haha!! This time around I added the PUSH GOAL – which was still EASY….but now came the HARD PART…..Reverse Engineering your Push Goal!!!!  Again, I ve heard her talk about this before, show it on videos and I always RAN to the next task….thinking oh no way!! NO WAY can I do that…really I was telling myself that I wasn’t willing to DISCIPLINE myself to do that!!  What is Reverse Engineering – in simple terms….breaking down your Push Goal to EVERY SINGLE TINY STEP you must take to achieve it!! And your goal is to come up with a huge, LONG list of mini tasks…the more the better!! Ahhhhh  Well Guess What….I did it!! I MADE MYSELF DO IT!!  I went into the dining room, posted the GIANT Poster Size Post It notes on the wall and started writing for probably a good 30 minutes NON STOP!!!  Once I was done I thought I was going to feel overwhelmed and think…HOW in the world am I ever going to do all of this????  But just the opposite happened…..I felt RELIEF!!  I felt a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders because I just spilled every idea, thought, to do list task on paper…every single one of them.  I HAD A PLAN…ON PAPER!!!  A Plan to Achieve the Biggest Goal of my Personal Career, one that will Change my Family’s Life!!!

Chalene teaches you the HABITS to Success whether Fitness, Nutrition, Relationships or Business!!  It is a Life Changing Book!  She is REAL, down to earth and you will feel like you are talking to your Best Friend when she takes you through the journey.  Can you Discipline yourself to PUSH for 30 days?? If you have followed my story, you may know me as a Fitness Instructor, a Turbo Kick Presenter, a Motivator, a Wife…and I am…I am all those things but what I didn’t even know about myself until most recently is that I have become a Life Changer!!

3 years ago I wouldn’t have ever thought that my life would take the turn that it did…but it has…and a lot of it is due to having my MIND in the right place!!  I did receive an Amazing Opportunity that could change my life, but if my MIND wasn’t in the right place to RECEIVE & ACCEPT IT I’m not sure the end result would still be the same.  I have read “The Secret” along with many other Personal Development books designed to help me become the BEST PERSON that I can be.  I recently read a quote by Jim Rohn “Work harder on yourself than you do on your Job…Work your Job and Earn a Living, Work on Yourself and Earn a Fortune!! —-  The Secret ~ Your Life becomes what you Think about Most of the Time… What are you thinking about most of the time? How To Avoid Gaining Weight at a Party

#1 Question I get asked all the time is…how to eat and enjoy yourself during the holidays or any party without gaining weight? The first thing to know is that you have to PLAN AHEAD…if you know you are going to a special event/party/holiday party etc. you MUST Plan in Advance….

1. Workout that morning! Working out the same day will help you gain energy for the rest of the day as well as boost your metabolism and control your appetite.  Making time for your workout will set your whole day up for success!!  Traditionally if you skip your workout, you feel tired and lethargic all day….which in turn can also cause you to make unwise eating decisions come party time

2. Eat Balanced Meals every 3 hours up till the Event: In theory, you may think that you do this but usually your eating/workout schedule can be thrown off around the holidays or special events.  Make the TIME to eat a balance of protein to carb ratio in small portions every 3 hours up until the event – I know some people think “I’m not going to eat until the event because I want to SAVE my calories” but actually that is the WORST IDEA because what happens is by the time you make it the event – you are STARVING!!! You probably have a headache from hunger and your appetite and cravings are so out of control you start to eat everything in sight!!!  Your metabolism is off, your blood sugars are off, energy is low and you try to feel better by eating something you probably wouldn’t have had you “prepared” ahead of time.

3. Have 1 Meal Replacement Shake the day of: Meal Replacement Shakes help in so many ways – they curb your sweet tooth!! And most likely the party you are going to has cake, ice cream and more…so I’m not saying you can’t have a piece of cake, but I am saying that if I have a chocolate/banana/peanut butter Shakeology before I go the party – I am much more likely to say No Thanks OR have ONE small piece.  Meal Replacement Shakes control your appetite and fill your stomach up as well.

4. Bring a Healthy Dish: If you know your family and/or friends are not going to have too much for you to select from for healthy choices…then bring your own dish!!!  That way you are guaranteed to be off to a Great Start!!

5. Choose Healthy Options: Ok so I know there is everything and anything at parties!!  Now if this is NOT your Cheat Day – here is what I suggest: Start w/ the Veggie Tray and Fruit Tray for appetizers, they are usually at EVERY PARTY!! Grab a bottle of water to stay hydrated.  Main Dish – Fill your plate with lean proteins like fish, turkey, chicken or lean red meat if you choose AND Veggies / Salad!!  FILL your plate w/these and leave a small amount of room for all the “other stuff”….so if you are going to have the pasta salad, potato salad, cheesy casseroles etc its a SMALL amount that you can barely fit a spoon full on your plate.  Oh and ONE plate, no seconds 🙂

6. ONE Cheat Day – If this is your cheat day….definitely TREAT yourself!!! but know that you get ONE cheat day and this is it…so whether that is cake and ice cream, alcohol or cheeseburgers?? It’s up to you…I guarantee if you start to “EAT CLEAN” 6 days a week and have ONE CHEAT DAY A WEEK, once you eat the JUNK it doesn’t event taste good anymore because your body starts to reject it….at least that has been my experience especially when I started Shakeology.

So remember, its ok to Treat yourself and NOT feel guilty….but in moderation

Life is full of Parties, Birthdays, Weddings & Holidays – you want to enjoy yourself and you should….but remember that doesn’t always have to be with “food”

And if you do cheat yourself silly, and we all have :)) You can always go on the 3 day Shakeology Cleanse on Monday and lose the pounds!

Day 30 of P90X Hybrid – It’s been rough

Ok this has been a rough past few weeks!  I started off strong but hit a hault when my IBS started to take control of my life…physically, mentally & emotionally I hit the WALL!!  BUT what’s important is that I got right back on track…and I think that’s what we all have to remember, Fitness is a Journey Not a Destination.  It’s a Challenge, a Struggle…but the journey is worth the ride!! Sample of my Daily Eating: Week 3

This is my 3rd week of the P90X/Insanity Hybrid Workout and WOW is it kicking my booty!!!  The first week I was sooo bloated from the diet changes….The second week I was sooo sore from the workouts….The third week I’m starting to feel my metabolism change because I feel hungry, which can be a bit difficult but I know its because my body is starting to burn it up!!  I haven’t lost any weight yet, but I see lots of definition in my upper body, my hips are slimming down and I’m starting to get into the routine of this…

Here is a sample of my Daily Eating Plan:

I’m following a Portion Style Eating Program which is 6 small meals a day, every 3-4 hours.  **You can either count calories or portions, I’ve done both and find this to be much easier FOR ME….similar to the Body for Life Eating Program.  Each “meal” consists of 1 serving of protein, carb, veggies and 2 cups of water!!  I am COOKING!!!  I never cook, I hate it!!  But I know I have to in order to fuel my body properly and to feel truly “satisfied”.  I plan my week in advance every Sunday by picking out my meals/recipies, going to the grocery store and writing everything down for the week to take out the guesswork.  Might sound like a lot of work, but honestly it does save time and money in the long run…

9:00am Workout – 2 cups water

11:00 Egg White Omelet w/ Tomatoes & 2/3 cup. hashbrowns – 2 cups water & Activit Vitamins

1:00pm Tropical Tuna Sandwich (Tuna, crushed pineapple, light miracle whip) 2 slices bread grilled – 2 cups water

4:00pm Chocolate Shakeology w/ Fiber Boost – 2 cups water

7:00pm Salmon – Sweet Potato (small) – Broccoli – 2 cups water!!

9:00pm 1/2 protein bar (or cottage cheese/fruit) – 2 cups water

11:00pm Banana Protein Pudding (1 scoop vanilla protein, 8 oz soy milk, 2 TBL Banana Pudding Mix, 1/2 sliced banana as topping) – 2 cups WATER!!

***So these aren’t the exact times of the day but at least every 3-4 hours I eat!! Lots of WATER and nothing else!  Lots of PROTEIN and 2 Shakes a day!!!

P90X / Insanity Hybrid…It begins

I am Super EXCITED to be going on a Caribbean Cruise in March 2011 through Beachbody…and this is definitely all the MOTIVATION I need to take my Fitness Program to the next level!!  Last January 2010 I did P90X along with taking Shakeology regularly and lost 11lbs initially in the 90 days!  I felt GREAT but was ready to change my program up, cause I’m going to be HONEST….P90X is rough!!

So here I am ONE YEAR later, I have kept off the weight…now I’m looking to take off the LAST 7 lbs and ultimately increase my lean muscle & Get RIPPED!!  So I am going to be doing a HYBRID of P90X & Insanity!!

I know from the experience from the first time….anytime I change my diet and start to eat clean, my IBS freaks out causing bloating!!  Ugh!  It will take 1-2 weeks to get it all back in balance…here is a clip of my workout of P90X on Day 2

To hold myself ACCOUNTABLE I am going to blog my journey along the way, including my pics, videos, weight measurements, food log and more!  I know I have a GREAT Workout Program that WORKS!!! Now its just a matter of staying organized, making time & just DOING IT!!

Its the Small Steps that will Lead to Successful Life!

It’s the little things you do everyday that will ADD UP and lead to a Successful Life…

This year I read a great book – The Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen – which really opened my eyes to a new way of thinking.  If you want to get better at something in your life–fitness, health, finances, marriage, relationships–its about taking the small steps DAILY towards that goal that ultimately add up to something great!  In fact the steps are so small that most people don’t do them because they seem insignificant, meaningless in fact…but in fact its just the opposite…5% of people in life will achieve their Ultimate Dreams because the WILL to CHOOSE to follow the Slight Edge!!!

Here are some examples and How I Applied the Slight Edge:

Losing Weight

Problem: Losing Weight doesn’t happen in a day or even in a short period of time. If you want to really do it right and keep the weight off it takes even longer.  Losing 1lb a week is considered healthy…In January 2010 I needed to lose 15lbs.  However the closer you are to your goal the harder it is to take it off.  I focused on the small, daily tasks that I could control which kept me thinking POSITIVE as well as gave me a sense of ACCOMPLISHMENT Everyday!

Small Daily tasks:

  • Kept a food journal of calories/meals/water
  • Eat 5-6 small meals a day
  • Drank Shakeology 1-2x a day
  • Worked out EVERYDAY: P90X – Turbo – Running – Strength Training
  • Pre-Planned meals by pre-cooking them and had go to foods always ready: veggies/fruit etc

Results: Lost 13lbs in about 6 months…still working on the last 2lbs!!  Lost a jean size and I am in the best physical/cardio shape of my life!!

Make More Income/Paying off Debt

Problem: 2 years ago I was working full time in a good paying  job but I wasn’t happy working a ton of hours and I still had a lot of credit card debt.

Goal: To own my own Business, Pay off Debt and become Financially Free!!

Small Daily Tasks: Once I found a Business I believed in, I signed up…I knew it was going to take TIME and PERSISTANCE to build it big!!!

  • Make a To Do List Everyday
  • Meet New People
  • Share w/ Friends what I was doing and how it can possibly help them as well
  • READ 10 pages of a good book
  • LISTEN to 15 minutes of a good audio
  • Commit to my fitness and nutrition program
  • Learn, Learn, Learn!!! Listen to Team Conference Calls / Webinars
  • Work on Personal Growth!! Become a BETTER PERSON!!

Everyday I repeat these tasks, I am the only one holding myself accountable.  If I don’t do them, no one will know….If I do them, I WILL KNOW!!

Results: I was able to walk away from my full-time “draining” j.o.b.!!! I am making the same full time income working from home!!  I am now working on paying off the debt and setting up our financial future….cheers to the next 2 years!!
