WHAT YOU MAY BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT ME and My Real Story with Coaching…I thought long and hard about SHARING this info but the TRUTH is this…I’ve come from a great place of struggle to an Amazing Blessed Life right now and although Beachbody was my “VEHICLE” and I’m soooo THANKFUL, I built my Coaching Biz around RELATIONSHIPS, FRIENDSHIPS and giving people back HOPE!!!!  WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW is….I grew up as an only child, my mom was a single mom and WORKED ALL THE TIME!!! I’m thankful to have her work ethic (and Gram’s too!!!) but as a child I HATED IT!! I grew up w/ the neighbors families, they took me to school, I walked myself home and then spent afternoons with different friends and their family dinners everyday…I know my mom HAD TO DO what she needed to do to put DINNER on the table and pay the mortgage, but she was never there and I HATED IT!! I promised myself…I would NEVER do that…if I could control it!!!  Sooo you may know I fell in love with Fitness in college (that I only finished 2 years of BTW) and started working like a MAD WOMAN!!!!  As a Fitness Instructor I LOVED what I did but knew I was never going to make a REAL INCOME doing that…13 yrs later I was working 50-60 hours a week in a corporate CUT THROAT WORLD, Stressed out to the MAX, Gaining Weight and still swallowed in credit card debt and living paycheck to paycheck….my only saving Grace was my husband 🙂  4 1/2 years ago I was introduced to Beachbody and my world has CHANGED FOREVER–!! You see I’m an EVERYDAY GIRL with more struggles to post about than you would ever want to hear….I knew GOD had a BIGGER PURPOSE for my Life, as from Great Struggle Comes Great Opportunity!!! Beachbody has been my vehicle to EMPOWER OTHERS to Change their Lives!!! Through Fitness, Weight Loss, Encouragement and YES of course making a CRAZY INCOME!!  As you can see on the picture below – in 4.5 years I am earning NOW in ONE MONTH what I made in ONE YEAR at my previous “career” in downtown Chicago!!  I’m NOT BRAGGING….I have done this by HELPING OTHERS DO THE SAME!! The Coaches on my TEAM are just like me, just like you…sick and tired and WANT LIFE TO CHANGE!! Me helping them, HELPS ME and My Husband go completely DEBT FREE!!!

HOW I LOST THE LAST 20LBS!

Like most women, I’ve been on a life long journey to manage my weight.  Yes I am a Fitness Instructor and Yes I love to workout…simply for the Energy it gives me and the endorphin high that I’m addicted to!!  So why was I always struggling to lose the Last 10lbs? Even to hold the weight I was at was a struggle…it seemed like I could gain 5 lbs in a weekend if I didn’t workout or watch everything that I put into my mouth.  I like eating healthy and love to workout so what was the problem?  What was I missing?  This was a question I asked myself for a long time ….and I honestly thought that my body was suppose to be this way, it wanted to be at this weight and I had to accept that or did I?  Ultimately I wasn’t happy and was determined to find a solution…

20lbs later….


I have found the solution!!  Not only to the weight loss which I have kept off now for over a year, but for the first time in my life I am in CONTROL of my weight!!!  I have more Energy than Ever and I’m NOT hungry!! That’s powerful!!!  Here is how I did it….

In January of 2010 I was at my heaviest weight of 151lbs!  I made a commitment to start P90X and drink Shakeology everyday!!  P90X is exactly what my body needed!  My body is conditioned for cardio due to years of teaching group fitness but P90X was completely different…it is a 90 day at home fitness program involving Muscle Confusion.  Basically a different workout each day so your body can’t get comfortable because you’re constantly changing it up!! Then every 30 days the program changes and steps it up a notch!  The first 30 days kicked my booty!!  I started to see muscle definition, my strength improved and the inches started to melt away!!

The Game Changer for me was Shakeology!! And that’s where I really started to lose the weight from.  How does it work? MY EAT CLEAN Grocery List

I’ve been on a MISSION for the past few years to really LEARN how to EAT CLEAN and get my Nutrition under control.  Its a learning process, but for me its about FEELING MY BEST!! Struggling w/ IBS for 20 years I have done a lot of research on what we are putting in our bodies, what’s healthy, what’s not healthy and why!  I’ve lost 17lbs but still on the journey to lose the next 5lbs…here’s a peak into my grocery list for the week!

I surround all of my meals around a LEAN PROTEIN source and then compliment with a complex CARB.  Right now I’m doing a 60 day Challenge Group so I am removing the carbs 1-2 meals a day for a short period of time.  I drink 2 shakes a day, supplement and drink tons of water!! Plus for the most part–I am Dairy & Wheat Free too!!  I don’t like to cook, that’s for sure!!! So for me I want to keep it SIMPLE!!

PROTEIN-

  • Egg Whites

  • Cottage Cheese (good for most people, but I’m on a dairy free diet)

Carbs-

  • Oatmeal
  • Eziekal Bread/Muffins/Wraps (this is the best however I still have to limit because w/ IBS we shouldn’t eat WHOLE WHEAT)
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Brown Rice (Uncle Ben’s in pouch)
  • Quinoa
  • Fruit

Other-

  • Rice Milk (for Protein/Shakeology Shakes)
  • Salsa for flavoring of Tuna, Egg Whites
  • Veggies – lots of them!! Broccolli, Green Beans, Spinach etc.
  • Salad
  • Water- individual bottles, gallons and large bottles for workouts

Supplements-

  • Shakeology – Chocolate & Greenberry for variety
  • Protein Shake – I drink 2 shakes a day!!!! (one of each)
  • Multivitamin Activit (if you are working out HARD you still need a multivitamin w/ Shakeology)
  • Biotin
  • Apple Cider Vinegar (aids in fat burning & digestion)
  • Fennel Tea and Peppermint Oil – for IBS and digestion
  • Flax Seed Oil
  • Calcium/Magnesium (I’m on a dairy free diet so I still need to get the calcium in that I’m missing from milk, yogurt etc)

Seasonings to make your food taste good without the fat – garlic, olive oil spray, pepper etc.

Staying Slim through Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is around the corner, do you have a plan NOT to overeat this holiday?  Are you thinking “This is ONE DAY and I’m going to eat whatever I want  because its the holiday and I deserve it”?? If so, that’s great but then this blog post probably isn’t for you….its for those who want to enjoy their holiday but still keep it safe!!  Here are few tips of mine to not over-indulge and pack any additional pounds this weekend…

1. PLAN AHEAD – You probably need to plan out your 4 day weekend as most people have multiple parties/family gatherings.  Know when you will be eating out and try to stay on schedule for all other meals besides those.  Example – If you know you are having a full spread Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday at 5pm then plan to stay on your regular healthy breakfast, lunch and mid meals before then.

2. DON’T SKIP MEALS – Avoid the thinking “well I’ll just fast till dinner then I can eat whatever I want/ Save my calories” Noooooo ahhhhh!!!! I scream when I hear this!!!  In theory it sounds good but here is what happens ….. you slow down your metabolism and you end up being SO HUNGRY by the time the meal comes that you OVER EAT!!! You can shrink and stretch your stomach when you do this….not good!!  It’s better to eat your normal meals beforehand and you will make smarter decisions at meal time 🙂

3. WORKOUT! Even a 30 minute workout that morning will Boost your Metabolism that day AND naturally curb your appetite!!  It doesn’t have to be a long workout but just get it in!!

4. CHOOSE YOUR PLATE – Again have a plan going in….you know there will be a spread of all your Favorites!!!  And you CAN have them….but in moderation.  Fill your plate with WHOLE FOODS like Turkey (watch the gravy), salad, veggies, mashed potatoes (ok!) and then leave small amounts for all the other stuff thats probably not so healthy – casseroles, cheesy pastas/rice, buttery buns etc.  This way you won’t feel deprived but GOOD that you are in CONTROL!!!

5. DESSERT – If you are not a dessert person….ask yourself, do I really want this?? Don’t just eat it to eat it…sound silly?? but I hear that ALL THE TIME!!  I AM A DESSERT PERSON so I personally will save my calories for this :))) Moderation is KEY, ENJOY!!

6. LEFTOVERS – This is where you can get in trouble!  You can get away with eating one INDULGENT dinner and even dessert BUT not for 3 or 4 days in a row…yikes!!  Send food home with people and if you’re not hosting, be careful with what you TAKE WITH YOU…because you know you will eat it!  Don’t just take food to be polite 🙁

7. GET RIGHT BACK TO YOUR NORMAL SCHEDULE – The faster you can get back on track with healthy eating and your workout regimen, the Better!!!

It’s the Holidays and YES you should enjoy yourself!!!! BUT….also look at your personal priorites and goals, hopefully these Tips will help you STAY ON TRACK!!

How To Avoid Gaining Weight at a Party

#1 Question I get asked all the time is…how to eat and enjoy yourself during the holidays or any party without gaining weight? The first thing to know is that you have to PLAN AHEAD…if you know you are going to a special event/party/holiday party etc. you MUST Plan in Advance….

1. Workout that morning! Working out the same day will help you gain energy for the rest of the day as well as boost your metabolism and control your appetite.  Making time for your workout will set your whole day up for success!!  Traditionally if you skip your workout, you feel tired and lethargic all day….which in turn can also cause you to make unwise eating decisions come party time

2. Eat Balanced Meals every 3 hours up till the Event: In theory, you may think that you do this but usually your eating/workout schedule can be thrown off around the holidays or special events.  Make the TIME to eat a balance of protein to carb ratio in small portions every 3 hours up until the event – I know some people think “I’m not going to eat until the event because I want to SAVE my calories” but actually that is the WORST IDEA because what happens is by the time you make it the event – you are STARVING!!! You probably have a headache from hunger and your appetite and cravings are so out of control you start to eat everything in sight!!!  Your metabolism is off, your blood sugars are off, energy is low and you try to feel better by eating something you probably wouldn’t have had you “prepared” ahead of time.

3. Have 1 Meal Replacement Shake the day of: Meal Replacement Shakes help in so many ways – they curb your sweet tooth!! And most likely the party you are going to has cake, ice cream and more…so I’m not saying you can’t have a piece of cake, but I am saying that if I have a chocolate/banana/peanut butter Shakeology before I go the party – I am much more likely to say No Thanks OR have ONE small piece.  Meal Replacement Shakes control your appetite and fill your stomach up as well.

4. Bring a Healthy Dish: If you know your family and/or friends are not going to have too much for you to select from for healthy choices…then bring your own dish!!!  That way you are guaranteed to be off to a Great Start!!

5. Choose Healthy Options: Ok so I know there is everything and anything at parties!!  Now if this is NOT your Cheat Day – here is what I suggest: Start w/ the Veggie Tray and Fruit Tray for appetizers, they are usually at EVERY PARTY!! Grab a bottle of water to stay hydrated.  Main Dish – Fill your plate with lean proteins like fish, turkey, chicken or lean red meat if you choose AND Veggies / Salad!!  FILL your plate w/these and leave a small amount of room for all the “other stuff”….so if you are going to have the pasta salad, potato salad, cheesy casseroles etc its a SMALL amount that you can barely fit a spoon full on your plate.  Oh and ONE plate, no seconds 🙂

6. ONE Cheat Day – If this is your cheat day….definitely TREAT yourself!!! but know that you get ONE cheat day and this is it…so whether that is cake and ice cream, alcohol or cheeseburgers?? It’s up to you…I guarantee if you start to “EAT CLEAN” 6 days a week and have ONE CHEAT DAY A WEEK, once you eat the JUNK it doesn’t event taste good anymore because your body starts to reject it….at least that has been my experience especially when I started Shakeology.

So remember, its ok to Treat yourself and NOT feel guilty….but in moderation

Life is full of Parties, Birthdays, Weddings & Holidays – you want to enjoy yourself and you should….but remember that doesn’t always have to be with “food”

And if you do cheat yourself silly, and we all have :)) You can always go on the 3 day Shakeology Cleanse on Monday and lose the pounds!
